Event Information

Here’s a few words about this year’s Flannel Jam, from our event directors:
We are so excited to bring a nostalgic and throwback theme to camp! The theme for Flannel Jam this year is Child of God. We will sing songs, play games, eat food, earn candy and prizes that all remind us of the nostalgia of our childhoods. All the while we will be learning and exploring what it means to live and be a Child of God, to be a co-heir with Christ and what it means to have childlike faith. 

First time at a Suncrest weekend retreat? Here’s what to expect.
From Friday evening to Sunday afternoon, campers will have an awesome time with both old and new friends. During services, big games, and cabin times; youth will learn about the one true God who created them, loves them, and sent His son Jesus for them.

Friday, Sept 27 - Sunday, Sept 29
Registration is Friday from 6:00-6:30 PM.
Campers will not be able to check-in prior to 6:00.
Pick-Up is Sunday at 12:30 PM.
Pickup and dropoff are in The Tab, the big gray building you’ll see when you first pull into camp.

This event is open to youth in Grades 6th - 12th.
Cost: $75

Sign up early to make sure you get the shirt!

Register before September 10th, in order to guarantee that you get a Flannel Jam shirt as part of your registration! After that date, we cannot guarantee shirt availability in your size!

Flannel Jam Directors

Sisters: Alyssa Roppa
and Madisyn Morgan

  Suncrest is very special to Alyssa and Madi. They both grew up going to camp, and have been volunteering for the past few years. Madi and Alyssa love getting to be a part of the youths’ lives and walking through life with them!

    Alyssa is a wife and mom of four! She owns her own hair salon, that her sister Madi works at . In her spare time, you can find her reading or on a walk with her dog Tex. Her and her family attend Lightning Church. She went Allison Park Leadership Academy. Alyssa is excited for Katie Bernard to lead worship, and Pastors Josh and Annie to bring the word!

    Madi is a Youth Leader and on the worship team at West Ridge Community Church. She met her husband, Ben, in ministry school. They have one daughter, and a son on the way. Madi is also in school for Worship Ministry and Christian Counseling! Her favorite thing to do in her free time is counsel Suncrest and hang out with her youth students! She is so excited to direct for the first time this Flannel Jam!

Josh and annie clear

The Clears are so excited to be speaking at Suncrest for the first time. They are married with three kiddos and planted Lightning Church in Robinson, PA. Josh was a youth pastor before planting Lightning, and both him and Annie have a passion for youth and teaching others about Jesus.

Worship Team Leader

Katie Bernard loves Jesus and loves Suncrest Camp! She’s been around camp forever and has served in every position possible at Suncrest. She is excited to lead worship for Flannel Jam this year! When she’s not serving at camp she’s a busy mom of three, and bakes the best sourdough bread :)

Wondering what you need to pack?

  • Bible

  • Bring your Flannel!

  • Clothes and shoes that you can run around in

    • Be prepared for different weather conditions, including wet grounds at camp.

  • Cash for snacks

    • Snacks/drinks are in the $1-$3 range.

  • Bedding for Twin Mattress (Sheets/Blankets/Sleeping Bag) and Pillow

  • Toiletries and bath towel

  • Prescription Medications

    • Please put in a Ziploc bag, and label with camper name.

  • Reusable Water Bottle

    • Please put your name on it somehow. We recommend with some painter’s tape and a sharpie.

  • Umbrella

Here’s a few Flannel Jam specific reminders!

  • Be ready for cold weather.
    Please keep in mind that we have no heated facilities at Suncrest Camp. This is not a problem for us at camp, we just want people to come prepared. We recommend packing an extra blanket, extra hoodie, and an extra pair of shoes in case one pair gets wet.

  • You can arrive late if you have after-school activities.
    Drop-off is officially from 6:00-6:30 PM, but we often have campers with after-school commitments. If you have to get to the camp late Friday night, or Saturday morning, that’s fine! If you have a Saturday or Sunday commitment, those can be accommodated, too. Just let us know so we can plan accordingly! Please email us at suncrestyouthcamps@gmail.com if you plan on coming late.

  • Youngest & oldest campers are not in the same cabins.

    We split the campers into different cabins based on different age tiers, with counselors assigned to the age groups they’re best suited for. This helps us to have cabin time discussions that are more geared towards specific age groups.

  • We accept walk-on registrations.
    If you know for sure that you’re coming, we recommend that you sign up, ASAP! However, we also do accept walk-ons. So, if you find out last minute that you can come, then, come on out! And, don’t stop inviting your friends until you’re at Flannel Jam yourself!
